A Long Walk

Some of the girls from our Tuesday morning walking group are doing one of the Great Walks in December - the Routeburn.  So, they are putting in some training.  As we’re doing a walk - the Akaroa Walk - towards the end of November, I decided to join them this morning.  It was a glorious sunny morning and layers soon came off and were tied around waists.  We walked from Meadowbank to Remuera, going up and down some very steep streets and through Waiata Reserve, then walked up Mt Hobson, followed by Mt St John.  On the return journey there were one of two steep streets, but towards the very end we had to climb up about 200 steps.  Amazingly, I was able to do the entire 13kms without a problem.  By the time we’d finished we were hot and tired.

This afternoon I did a little bit of work, then we went over and spent an hour with Mum.

I took a photo of some beautiful flowers as we walked past a hedge at the front of someone’s garden.  According to Mr Google, they’re either Amaryllis Belladonna (the Jersey Lily), or Hippeastrum Striatum (the striped Barbados lily). The other photo is of the group of us at the top of Mt Hobson.
