Cranes

I decided to spare you another picture of vines. I heard the honking and quickly grabbed the camera to capture these far away cranes flying south. It's still warm here (21C) but uncomfortably cloudy and muggy. I'd be fine with it being colder if the sky was blue!

I had to be up early to get to Gilles' funeral. The church in Alairac is quite big, and it was expected to be full, so we had to get there extra early to do the sound check before anyone arrived. We also recorded the two pieces so that they could be played later at the crematorium (which is not big enough to fit a choir and a piano in). There were indeed a lot of people there; Gilles was a lovely man, very involved in the life of the village.

The hour-long service plus getting there and back took up the whole morning. The rest of the day has been quiet; reading Kate Atkinson's new novel and starting a sourdough loaf now that the starter has come back to life.
