Faro Island

Still think it's an incredible privilege to be able to fly and see the earth from above. Gorgeous sky blues, shining white clouds, pools of yellow as the sun descended, and then this view of Faro Island as we arrived - the airport is just to this end of the causeway. At the end of the bridge at the other end, is "our" little hotel, AeroMar; you can even see our car there if you can zoom in enough.

Wasn't the smoothest of experiences this time, though. First, we were told to get to Manchester airport three hours early, which meant early rising for everyone, and no idea why as we went straight through security. And then the flight was delayed, and then, after we boarded, we were left waiting to go for about two hours, for some reason. I kept my slightly panicky claustrophobia in check by reading. Eventually we left, and decided to treat ourselves to a panini and a drink (which were surprisingly good) to celebrate taking off at last.

Got the bus from the airport to Faro Island to collect our car, and just arrived home, before 11pm. A long day!

Gratefuls:
- all the good-bye hugs
- Tom driving us to the airport
- getting home safely
