Thurgoland Boundary Walk

The annual Thurgoland Boundary Walk takes place on May Day each year. It's a great event that's organised by the Parish Council and following the walk everyone is provided with pie and peas at The Bridge Inn. We usually act as back markers on this walk. Here is my group (we were the next to the last group) and by this time we had got a bit separated from the main stream of walkers. Our youngest walk members was only three months old and dad was a star carrying her round and giving her a bottle when we got to the Travellers Inn. (You can't quite see her here as she's hidden behind her mum.) This is Tom Royd Wood, a lovely stretch of woodland on the side of the hill that is usually full of bluebells at this time of year, though today the flowers were only just beginning to emerge. Ann saw a kingfisher patiently waiting at the bottom of the hill, where the bridge crosses a small stream but we didn't have such luck. This is a beautiful and varied walk and the wonderful weather was an added bonus. Highly recommended.
