Ogden Water

Both Tony and I remarked that this is the lowest we have seen Ogden Water ever, as we walked over the dam wall to the start of the orienteering event this morning.

Mine was a physical course, first moorland tussocks where I was cursing my short legs, then woodland slopes made muddy with the rain in recent days and the fallen leaves which made downward navigation tricky.  For some reason the planner took us right up to the top of a hill towards the end to bring us back down for another control and back uphill to the finish!  It was good to be out in the fresh air though and to catch up with several orienteering friends.  I was hoping that there might be some sunshine over the Water when I went back to blip it, but sadly it was not to be.

We were saddened to hear about the death of Jim, an orienteer from the Pendle Forest Club.  Sleep well Jim.

We've taken it easy doing our jigsaws for the remainder of the afternoon and just enjoyed the Dark Skies production on Countryfile.
