Durgan

I intend to live forever, or die trying.
Groucho Marx
Busy day for K2 today, they are attending the wedding in the town before heading off to the headland for the reception. They made us a cooked breakfast to start the day, then we dropped them off near the church and headed off to Glendurgan Garden, a National Trust place which was once a family retreat and playground on the coast, with a schoolroom and maze in the enormous gardens which lead down through the forest of vegetation to Durgan village on the coast. Another hot, sunny day so time for an ice-cream on the beach before a leisurely amble back through the jungle-like foliage to the tea-room for lunch in the garden area. We’d arranged to collect K2 and R early afternoon at the rugby ground to transfer them to the reception marquee on the headland, so just as well the weather was good as when we dropped them off in the field that was the car park they still had a ten minute walk across the fields to the marquee. Job done we headed back for a quiet afternoon reading and relaxing in the sunshine outside the AirBnb, pick-up time was midnight. We left in good time, unsure whether the taxis and other cars would create bottlenecks in the single track lanes to the farm, all went well but when we arrived it looked deserted, abandoned cars at random in the field. Then we noticed occasional flashes of light from the headland as odd groups of revellers picked their way carefully across the fields to get back to the car park. Would not have fancied this on a wet and windy night, all was dark save for occasional starlight, there was no moonlight. They saw us before we managed to see their shadowy shapes emerge from the darkness, a great day was had by all. Time for bed said Zebedee.
