Durness, June 26th 1968

When I offered to look at my mother's extortionate household contents insurance renewal quotation a few days ago, I asked my not-so-little sister to put all the documentation in the post. She included in the envelope (which arrived this morning) this sweet photograph taken in Durness on 26th June 1968. My mother is 29, I am 5, and my middle sister 4. (My not-so-little sister was not even on the horizon at this point.) Daddy hazelh took the photo.

We cooked fish caught by my father on the fire in the shot, and we bought the bucket in my hand earlier the same day. I also remember the red spade that my middle sister is holding in the shot. Perhaps that was her present, equivalent to my bucket?

The news on the building work is that the shower tray had been installed and we now have an outside tap. The news on jury duty is that Mr hazelh has been excused from this entire cycle without having to go to court at all. The news on Mr hazelh's heart is that he now an appointment with the specialist in a couple of weeks. The news on my retirement is that I had a meeting today with Bruce and Marianne about outputs from our podcasting project, and I worked on the proofs of a journal article.

Today I also tidied my stationery drawers, returned two pairs of trainers that I bought online and found are slightly too small for me, and discovered that the national shortage of darning wool is due to Brexit..

After the builders left, Mr hazelh persuaded me out into the dark and pouring rain for a 7k run.

Exercise today: running (7k).
