Display of Colour

After a warm night we had another hot day. Not as hot as the 29c yesterday but it did reach 25c at one stage. It has cooled now to 17c after a wind change.

Around 8pm last night a brush fire started. They believed it was started by fireworks just north of Christchurch. So far it has brunt over 200 hectares of coastal North Canterbury and forced the evacuation of hundreds of people. It seems be under control now. I could smell the smoke in the early hours of this morning, here in city.

The strong winds over night and again from 9am would have helped fuel the fire. They have died down now with the cool wind change.

This Rhododendron in our garden is making a beautiful display of colour at the moment.
