Sliwki

These ‘tart’ plums, along with sourdough, artichokes, truffles, greengages, levellers* (*sweetish gooseberries, can never find any) are among my favourite foods.

As a child, our local greengrocer, frequented by ‘Middle-Europeans’ sold them. Never seen since in the UK. So now in sale at our Polski Sklep. Expect the Sliwki season is ending. They were £4/kg+, now a bargain £1.29/kg.

I naughtily select the firm ones from the box below (not in pic).. Off to savour one now - they are delicious braised or in cakes too.

Nasty out. Dull, rainy, damp, cooler. Early (10:30) to club to return glasses to ‘G’, left at ours yesterday. Chatted and drink with mates. Mr B fed up with knee, can’t resume tennis yet. No fun watching others play :(

Then Boscombe for bread and bits. Then home to relax after a busy couple of days.
