In a Japanese garden

We visited the Japanese garden near Dollar this afternoon just in time to catch the last glimpse of autumn colours.( see extra).

Ella Christie of Cowden Castle, the founder of the garden in 1908 was an inveterate traveller. One day at Dollar railway station she was asked if she was going to Edinburgh.
“No, Samarkand,” she replied.

Today this Japanese garden, still in process of restoration after it was vandalised,  is fast becoming a top tourist attraction in Scotland.
