Sgwarnog: In the Field

For the first time in ages, 18yo (back from uni for the weekend), 14yo and I headed up to the local Bonfire Night display at the rugby club. To me it makes a difference when the display falls on  Bonfire Night proper, which is often only the case on a Saturday night.

It was an easy choice to switch my camera to the little used fireworks setting, and I like the resulting effect of firework trees.   If you peer into the gloom at the bottom left of the image you see a set of rugby posts for scale.

Earlier, I’d been down at Valley Parade where Harrogate Town were visiting for a FA Cup First Round fixture. The game had been brought forward to a 12.30 kick off as the police didn’t want the added distraction of a football match finishing as Bonfire Night was getting underway. Harrogate have been a bogey team for City since they joined the Football League, and that continued - an early goal for them and a poor performance from City led to a 0-1 loss.
