Wren

Today’s picture is of a Wren. It is not the best picture, but it kept flitting about as Wrens do. It perched on the bird table and on one the feeders, but I did not see it eat anything although If insects are few and far between it will eat seeds. They do not fly very far above the ground, but this one perched in the mixed hedge. It is not the smallest bird in the United Kingdom, the Goldcrest is smaller, but the Wren is shorter. This one then flew back into the hedge, where this picture was taken and was joined by a second one; so we are lucky enough to have two Wrens in our garden.

The temperature at noon today was thirteen degrees Celsius; overcast with heavy rain and flooding in parts of the village.
