River Rother at Bodiam

The rain didn’t let up all evening, overnight and continued into the late afternoon. Rain of epic biblical volume that would have frightened even Noah.

Donning full wet weather fig we walked to the Hub for lunch, spending a good few hours there as the rain continued to hammer down. A right deluge.

We left just as a crack of blue appeared to the west leaving us a window of time to walk to Bodiam Castle and a perambulation around the castle moat. Crossing the river a magnificent rainbow arched over the Rother Levels complete with double bow.

Strangely enough, despite all that rain the level of the river was lower than Friday. Probably because the sluice gates at Rye were fully open.

It’s raining again now. We’re all snug in the carriage. I loved hearing the rain and winds outside whilst lying in bed. It didn’t take long to get Hypnos to weave his magic.
