Breakey Blips

Ayr docks

It was my day off today, and I needed to find some formal winter gear ready for this weekend's remembrance service goings on.
I went to the closest place with big shops- Ayr, a mere 1.5 hours away.

On the previous trips I have not managed to connect the shops with the beach that I recall visiting as a small child, so today I deliberately got myself lost. The sea front was grey, wet, windy and somewhere uninspiring so I kept driving.
I found these piles of trees down at the docks awaiting transportation.

When I was a kid, forestry was hailed as a cure for the woes of the Highlands. While up north last week, we drove past so many areas of harvested trees- what a mess is left behind, and I wondered if we, as a nation, regret relying on such a monoculture, and whether they were a cure or not. I will have to investigate some more.
