Touch down

It was an early pick up from our hotel. Our driver messaged an hour before the due date to reschedule as she wanted to cover a job for a colleague who'd been taken to the hospital.

It was fine as I was awake and it meant only a few minutes less to finish a coffee.

The driver was from Venezuela. Relocated with her family due to unrest at home she missed her homeland. We chatted about fireworks at New Year and the influx of cruiseships to watch them. We were at the airport by 3am.

We stopped on route home for brunch. The fire was lit and our waitress was wearing a wool hat. What a difference a day makes.
