Past Glory

Back up in Surrey. Visited friends last night. Called in to the crem this morning to see if there was progress on my daughters missing rose bush. There wasn’t!

Went through Woking and the estate I was born on. Sheerwater.

I wasn’t prepared for the changes. Parts have obviously declined since my childhood and even when I moved back here with my first wife.  So many flats and houses all boarded up and ready for redevelopment. I called into one of the couple of shops to ask what the plans are. Apparently knock down 500 homes and replace with 1000.

The size of the redevelopment just struck me. All those families gone. Somewhere!

I found this little scene outside the flat I used to live in something like 40 years ago.

I shouldn’t have gone back.
