Quod oculus meus videt

Autumn Hues

While waiting for a walking companion, the early sunlight first catches trees on the hill at the side of the car park at Seven Springs.

We hadn't walked together for some months, but it was a pleasure to catch up and trek across Cannock Chase this morning.  Just like old times the steps and conversation flowed easily on a beautiful day, though we did just miss a rain shower that crossed the area a few minutes after finishing an 11 mile walk.

I'd read in the morning that the Flying Scotsman was due to pass through the area in mid afternoon, so after finishing I made my way across to Penkridge, in the hope of getting a photograph.   Frustratingly despite hovering the drone over a viaduct for more than half an hour, the train never materialised.
