Bedroom Revamp - Phase 2

I blipped a panorama of our bedroom a week past Sunday, after we'd prepared it for the workmen to come and remove the old wardrobes and vanity unit the following day. Since then we've been busy doing other jobs, in particular stripping the wallpaper as our friendly local decorator who'll be along in the New Year (he's booked up until then) likes to work with bare walls.

I have to admit that at present it looks a little worse than on the "before" photos I blipped earlier!

Whenever we strip wallpaper in this 120-year-old house we always cross our fingers that the wall won't come away with it (in some rooms it did!). Happily we only had a few small areas where this happened - you can see the brown splodges where I've been patching the plaster. We didn't bargain on there being 3 layers of lining paper under the old patterned paper though - some of them painted so the stripping is only partly done so far (and there's no point in stripping the white wall where the new wardrobes will be attached - or the antique patterned paper we found behind one end of the wardrobes and which I blipped for Abstract Thursday). We always suspected that there had been a picture rail on the walls in the past, and we can now see that was indeed the case judging by the strip of repaired plaster right round the room.

On Monday the fitters will arrive to start fitting the new fixed furniture - some of the bits and pieces were delivered on Friday and more will arrive with them.
