Stuff and Nonsense

Well, today didn’t go quite as planned! After waking up at 6am we got ready and headed down to Stag Rocks again to take in what was supposed to be the best day for a nice sunrise. What hadn’t been factored in was the mist that had appeared (not forecast) totally blocking all views of the castle and even the sun. 07.37am came and went and we sat in the car for a good while before giving up and returning home. There would have been no point in going to Holy Island as there would have been no birdwatching or nice pictures.
However, the silver lining was that hubby could sit and watch most of the T20 cricket World Cup Final v Pakistan. It was an exciting match which England won well in the end and hubby was happy(although he still hasn’t forgiven me for waking him up at 6am on holiday!!!)
After a quick lunch, it looked as though it had brightened up so we went over to Low Newton for a walk along the beach and some birdwatching. The sun wasn’t out for long and the mist returned as well making it quite chilly, but we had a good couple of hours and saw quite a few species along the shoreline. Knowing that the road was closed at Seahouses until 3pm, we stopped for a coffee and cake at The Landing at Beadnell before continuing home.  A good day, but not the one we’d envisaged.
