75 Today!

What a magical place to spend my 75th birthday!

Another back Blip:
The main photo is drinking champagne at the Martin’s Bay Lodge after our 15km walk with  (from left) Jill, me (Liz) and friends Ruth (fellow blipper Pinot2009) and Lesley.

Today we walked over the longest swing bridge in Fiordland; jet boated down Lake McKerrow; walked through an amazing podocarp forest that had huge Totara, Rimu, Beech and Kahikatea trees, many supporting lichen and mosses and looked like a fairy woodland. (extra). The birds were amazing Tui, Bellbirds, Pīwakawaka and Kererū were flying around us.

We had lunch in a safari like tent with a long trestle covered with a black cloth - a menu of Kumera and cocoanut soup, pumpkin and feta fritters, Mediterranean scone scrolls with herb butter, fresh fruit AND a banana birthday cake with candles for me! What a very pleasant surprize!

In the afternoon we continued walking along the coast line and eventually came to the Martin’s Bay Lodge in a beautiful setting. Another fabulous platter of food, Blue Cod for dinner and chocolate brownie for dessert.

To end the day, the sunset was spectacular (extra).

What a special day to celebrate my milestone birthday in such a magical setting!
