A back Blip:
Our last day as a group of 14 walkers and 2 guides. It is an “alps to ocean” experience, and our last morning was spent walking in the sand dunes of the West Coast for several hours. We heard more stories of the area, and Māori legends - so fascinating.
After another wonderful lunch, we started the journey back home, with the first part flying from Mason Bay Lodge to Milford Sound via helicopter. It took 3 helicopter rides to get us all out.
The first extra is a photo of the Mason Bay Lodge- the wardens and jet boat driver waving us farewell.
The second extra is in the helicopter, Lesley on the left, Jill on the right and me in the back row in the middle. It was only a 15 minute ride, but really fun.
The third extra, is the famous Mitre Peak in Milford.

We had exceptional weather-  in Fiordland, visitors can usually expect to get very wet. Our experience could have been very different- but we had wonderful sunny days for our 40km tramp. Flying into Milford Sound was still very special, even if the day was overcast and trying to rain- not that we would call that rain on the West Coast!
Soon we were in the bus again for a 2 hour trip back to Te Anau, where we farewelled some of our group. We were so fortunate to have an enthusiastic, friendly group of people to share this experience.
We were dropped back at our car in Queenstown 2 hours later. Then home over the Crown Range - Billy was so thrilled to see us- he hasn’t stopped purring. We had to wait overnight before we saw Frida again.

An amazing few days that I can only summarise in one word “Magical”.
