Birding on the Marshes

This morning we joined ten other members of our  local RSPB group for a bird -watching walk at Keyhaven and Pennington Marshes (near Lymington). The weather was perfect: dry, sunny, still,  with a temperature of about 11C.
My main blip shows the  footpath on top of the seawall, which gives  excellent views across the former salt pans, now marshes and reed beds. The shallow pools  attract many waders, ducks and geese. Meanwhile, in  the scrub, are Stonechats, Dartford warblers, Meadow Pipits and other small birds.
The first extra is looking from the seawall across the  Solent towards the Isle of Wight. The second extra is of a lagoon where there were Snipe, Lapwing, Pintail, Mallard, Teal, Wigeon, Shoveler, amongst others. The third extra is looking back towards Keyhaven with some of the many Brent geese to be found, there,  on the water.

Altogether, we saw over sixty bird species, and all without getting frozen as we normally do out on the marshes, so we were very pleased!
