Life Savors

Gentle Giant

I spent a wonderful afternoon in a paddock with 8 Clydesdale horses.  What magnificent creatures.  It was a little disconcerting when we first entered the paddock and they came lumbering over as they are so enormous, but it was clear they just wanted some petting and then they were happy to wander off to graze.

While not as famous as the Budweiser Clydesdales, this is the only Clydesdale farm in Maryland and these horses are often featured at local events.  On Monday, they will be at the White House to deliver the Christmas tree.

Late afternoon, the owner of the farm called them, and all eight immediately came running across the large paddock and headed straight into their stable and respective pens.  To see them all running was such a beautiful sight. (See extra)  Each pen has the horses name on it, and apparently they can read, because they always go directly into their own pen and never get it wrong.

Addendum.  Apparently this is my 7th blip anniversary.  Actually in February, it will be nine years, but I have missed a few days along the way.  Thanks to all of you who stop by and leave your lovely comments.  You are what makes this such a special place.
