Coire Lagan

Woke up with a head full of whisky and the wind battering the windows. After a bit of breakfast and a mooch about it didn't seem that bad and Colin, Ken, Malcolm, Antoni and I headed for Sgurr Alisdair. The good paths made short work of the trek up to Coire Lagan and in thick mist we found the Great Stone Chute. A tortuous ascent up this river of scree and boulders got us to the point where we were finding hard packed old snow. Crampons and harnesses went on and the rope was at the ready though we ascended the last 150 m or so to the bealach with little trouble. A short icy scramble and we were on the top. Again, possibly one of the finest mountains in Scotland and I saw nothing. I will be back though to do the ridge.

After a fairly easy descent to the end of the snow we made good progress down the chute with one minor incident when Ken narrowly missed getting thumped by the big boulder Colin dislodged and banged himself on the head on his escape, think his lid took the brunt though. Quick walk back to the hut.

After a shower, Antoni decided he was going to the pub and it would have been foolish to let him go on his own.....

Back to the hut for dinner and then lashings of malt whisky and the last of the previous nights cheese. All in all an excellent day, though a view would had been handy.
