Crabs

We ended up in Amisfield Walled Garden today. It might seem an odd time of year to be visiting but in fact there was quite a lot to see, mainly berries and apples, though most were on the ground. This ornamental crab apple was gloriously coloured in the sunshine, set against the blue sky. There remained signs of the early frost, which we also  had at home, but there was little to be damaged.

I admit to a slight disappointment that there were few birds - one might expect redwings, even waxwings, but they were all asleep or elsewhere. We admired the peace of the Japanese garden with its trickling water, played the xylophone in another before leaving with a few apples from the stall, mostly bruised or pecked, but which will make a nice crumble.
