Choosing shoes

This afternoon we arrived in Jodhpur, Rajasthan's second largest city. We had time to wander around the town and climb the clocktower before heading to a rooftop location to try and photograph the colossal Mehrangarh Fort at sunset. Unfortunately they chose this evening not to turn on the lights which illuminate the fort, so the photographs were somewhat disappointing.  However, we enjoyed excellent snacks and chai provided by the lady of the house whose rooftop we were using.

Then we had a mad tuk tuk ride back to our hotel.  Formula 1 drivers could learn a lot from Jodhpur tuk tuk drivers, if they want to know about competitive driving, aiming for and winning the narrowest gaps, maintaining speed even in the most difficult circumstances.  This must be the most rapid tuk tuk drive I have ever experienced and I am still astonished at the hairs-breadth gap by which our driver managed to miss other tuk tuks, pedestrians, motor cycles, scooters and cows.  As one of our party commented, the ride was more like a stunt chase through narrow streets in a James Bond movie.

My blip was taken earlier in the afternoon at one of the street-side stalls.
