The joys of Botany

During our lengthy lifetime we have been lucky enough to spend many days following the hobby of amateur botany. Much of that was done in the UK of course.
But a few hundred days have been spent in other parts of the world. There are so many memories of the excitement of finding and identifying a flowering plant never seen before. And often these pleasures took place among superb scenery.

Part of the fun was also in collecting specialised floras to help us in our adventures.

We have reached age at which climbing Arnside Knott is quite an achievement and we have abandoned flying to help save the planet. So these books and many others sit on the shelf when perhaps they could be giving pleasure to a younger generation.

Many of them are now going to specialist bookshops which cater for those lucky enough to be planning visits to the Alps ( by train I hope )  or beyond.
