Goldfinch

We had rain most of the day. But as soon as new seed and peanuts were put in the feeders, many birds of several varieties braved the elements to get breakfast. I had already gotten a lovely holly blip but these goldfinch took precedence. Their feathers are not vibrant this time of year but they are still pretty birds. Hubby and our BIL puttered in the barn replacing parts on the trailer and testing it afterwards. We need another wheel bearing but that will have to wait until we get home since we could not find one locally. We had quite a thunderstorm this afternoon complete with high winds, heavy rain and some hail. We lost power and the whole house generator saved us again. It was a good day for reading and working puzzles. Today we are having our Thanksgiving dinner at home. The stuffed ham is sliced, turkey and sweet potatoes are in the oven and all the trimmings are in standby to be cooked in 30 minutes. My sister and I have prepared the meal in parts so we aren’t overwhelmed at the last minute. This house sure smells good. We gave my sister a DVD player last Christmas. We watched a Christmas movie (The Christmas Box) and have the second one waiting for us to press play. Mancil turned 17 yesterday. We are unable to call from here so I was glad we went to town for Mass. He was enjoying time with his girlfriend; Gram’s presence is not as critical these days. Wishing you a warm and cozy day. Stay safe and healthy. Sounds like there are plenty of germs just waiting to ruin the holiday season. Thanks for your visit. “The mere sound of a singing goldfinch is believed by many as an expression of one’s inner self.” - Richard Alois
