Memorial Oak

Our neighbours created the lake, which Ollie dog and I so enjoy walking round, in memory of their lovely son John who died a young man about forty years ago. They also planted a memorial oak sapling which failed to thrive at first. We were worried that it might die as it struggled next to their leylandii hedge.

It was looking healthy and beautiful this morning in its autumn dress bathed in sunshine. Ollie dog likes to have a daily roll to the north of the lake in the position where she is pictured.
