Otter Skull

Well, we had things to do today so I didn't get to go onto The Water of Leith looking for the otters. The best I could manage was a talk tonight at the Conservation Centre. Kat booked us tickets as she knew we'd be interested while she, herself, ended up working! She didn't mind that as the other staff had already worked there all day on Kat's day off.

The talk was given by Ross Lawford, a man who reckons his life was saved when, in the depths of depression, he became involved in the care of a rescued female otter. It changed his life. He has studied otters throughout the country on now lives in Edinburgh.

He has studied and filmed otter families on the Water of Leith for three years and his most recent footage was taken yesterday! He showed his videos and talked us through them. Fascinating creatures!
