Getting bigger

I blipped these ten Egyptian Goose babies three weeks ago. They are still happily swimming around in the neighbour's swimming pool with their attentive mother, and the aggressive father (see extra) continues to keep watch from the roof top or garden wall. He is looking rather scruffy - I guess fatherhood is rather stressful!
The wind wasn't as strong today. but a fire has been raging most of the day at a suburb further along the coast. A couple of houses have been burnt, and it continues to burn. The conditions are ideal for fires - hot, windy and very dry, so we are on standby. The memories of the fire a few years ago are still very strong.
It was a good day for washing curtains, and also sorting paintings in hubby's art studio!!
A friend and her husband are using the apartment we share in Plettenberg Bay. She contacted me today to say her hubby wasn't well and they would return early tomorrow. I gave her daughter Sally's cell number in case she needed anything. An hour later S phoned to say she was at casualty with J who had had a bad fall. He is being kept in hospital for investigation as he is not well. Thankfully S could help as it's not easy being in a place where you don't know anyone. S is a paramedic, so could take over and handle the situation.
Now for tea, bed and another attempt to start reading my book - I have tried a few times today, but have been interrupted each time.
