The Tracks Of My Tears

I noticed the other day that one of the doors on the fitted wardrobe was catching and seemed a bit loose. I texted the joiner who fitted them to see if there was any adjustment I could make. He said yes and told me what I needed to do. He also said he could “pop up” if I couldn’t suss it.
Well, after about five minutes of tinkering this morning, I realised I was more likely to break something than fix the problem, so asked if he could come round when it was convenient.
I must have caught him on a quiet day as he was here within the hour. He identified that, whilst we could adjust the runners, it would be better to actually raise the lower track by 20mm or so in order to effectively tighten everything up. He headed back to his shop, cut a piece of matching wood to size and came right back. Half an hour later and all was fastened into place, the doors were back on and nothing was catching. And as a testament to how good our joiner is, it didn’t even look as if anything had been changed. Two hours from my initial plea for help and all was done and dusted. I’d even been shown the correct way to make adjustments in case any tweaking was required.
And he was kind enough to gloss over the fact that the bit of skirting board I told him I was going to fit myself, after he had finished all the work a year ago, remains unfitted…
