Shadows on the wall

One of my plants needed a drink this morning, and I noticed the shadow of my hand and the container on the wall and took a quick photo.
I wish I'd taken a photo of the snow late yesterday afternoon. We got at least three inches. Then it rained, and there's hardly any snow left, but it was cold overnight and our driveway is a sheet of ice where we drove over the snow yesterday and compacted it. We didn't drive anywhere today. I went for a quick walk around our place and down into the forest but steered clear of the driveway!  Our power went out last night just as I was cooking pasta, and luckily we could use the wood stove to completely cook it. It was out for about 5 hours. Apparently a tree fell on some lines, happens often here.
What a trip home from uni Krista had last night! Her prof didn't want to cancel class or change to Zoom because a guest speaker and workshop were scheduled. The class was ended about half an hour early because of the weather conditions. The lower mainland got a fair bit of snow and road conditions were terrible. It took Krista over five hours, crawling on the highway, and it usually takes around an hour. It was good that she had a friend from class with her, and she got her friend and herself home just after 10pm. Some people were stranded until this morning and the plows couldn't get through to clear the roads. One of the bridges was closed. The uni was closed today, as were some other schools, so we were glad that she didn't drive in today. Don't think she would have anyway!  G and I have had lots of experience driving in dicey winter conditions, but this was a first experience like this for Krista. We were glad to get the call that she was safe at home.
