AB42 5PP

Is the postcode of the Aikey Brae Standing Stone Circle, acknowledged to be the finest in North Aberdeenshire.

Pat entered the code into the maps app on her iPhone X which connected to Apple CarPlay and displayed the route on the Citroën dash screen.

We followed the directions, the roads becoming narrower and narrower, the route finishing at the entrance to Aikey Brae Footpath which includes the stone circle.

There are continuous views all around and some horizons must be 40 miles away.

Whoever set up this circle chose very wisely. The main photo shows the recumbent stone. The thumbnail shows the tip of the left flanker. The right flanker has fallen down.

A quite remarkable site to visit, and an easy one to reach by car and foot.

I was quite surprised and impressed  at the number of wind turbines just off shore generating Green electricity and also at the number of house that have solar panels for water and electricity.

This, near the Oil Capital of the Disunited Kingdom.
