A Day Worth Recording

Detectiving

We were introduced to a new game by one of our guests: Detective Club.

There are now a few games where players are guided to an answer by way of cards illustrated with artworks seemingly painted by someone on illegal substances - Dixit, Mysterium, etc.

This one takes the model of the game Spyfall where one player is the 'spy' and is missing critical information that everyone else has, and thus needs to blag their way to hide their 'infiltration'.

In Detective Club everyone but one has a word handed to them by the lead player, then, one at a time, everyone plays a card illustrating that word.  When everyone has played two cards the word is revealed and each player describes how their pictures relate to that word.

Then everyone votes for who they think is faking it, scoring points if they get it right (or scoring points if you've faked successfully).

Out of all of these sorts of games, this one seems to have hit the sweet spot - not that complex, quite quick, and resulting in howls of laughter.
