Mossy Tree

We woke this morning to the sound of rain, and a puddle on the floor where the door was open a crack. It felt a bit warmer for awhile, but the temperature has been plummeting all day. We got Spike out for his walk with perfect timing between rainstorms.Seems an appropriate way to begin the month of Christmas.

The combination of rain and cold has not motivated me to go out again after getting back with Spike. John has been in and out getting blood drawn at the lab and picking up prescriptions. The insurance company will not pay for him to renew the cortisone cream until next week. The doctor tried writing him a new prescription but they still won't pay. So the insurance company apparently thinks it knows better than the prescribing doctor. Or doesn't care. It doesn't work very well anyway, but still....

Today is  Dine Out Sonoma day in conjunction with World AIDS Day, in which participating restaurants donate all or part of their profits to food banks and charities. We are going to venture out for our first indoor restaurant experience since Covid reared it's ugly head.  One of our once favorite restaurants  is supporting Food For Thought, a wonderful charity that provides food, diet guidance and other kinds of support for people with serious health issues. It started as a support for people with AIDS, but has added people with other serious health issues such as diabetes, heart conditions and now Covid.

I have been sitting on the couch almost all day doing various sedentary tasks but now I must rouse myself to go early as they are apt to be busy and we like(ed) to sit at the bar where there are no reservations.

Addendum:  There was only one seat open at the bar and the restaurant was booked out so we came home with plans to go back next week on a quieter night. Spike was happy to see us....
