Swa'adle Yows

For the benefit of those who don't speak my native language, these are Swaledale Ewes.   As the name suggests the breed was developed, as were most UK sheep breeds, in a fairly small locality, in this case, the valley of the River Swale, Yorkshire.  Examples of other breeds named for the area are Suffolk, Leicester, and Romney Marsh.

Clickychick had a photo in mind of something in the church so in the afternoon we strolled across by way of the glebe field.  Usually, there are racehorses from Nicky Richards's stable grazing there but today it was the sheep.  As we came home the sun came out and the late afternoon sun gave them a bit of a golden glow.
