Ruth's portrait of Luca

Luca and Eben stayed overnight with us on Friday night, and then Josh and I took them swimming in the morning, at the big local leisure pool in the city centre. We met Jack, Marianna and Frieda there too - a real Saturday morning get-together. There's a wave machine, and a swirling current running in a circle around a family pool - plenty to enjoy.
Eben and Frieda are utterly fearless in the water. Luca, in contrast, needs a lot of time to take everything in, and to make his way into the water.
This one's for Luca, then, who braved the biggest part of the pool complex today for the first time, floating around in the swirling current there, safe in his Dad's arms. Ruth was away for the day, at an art workshop, and this is a shot of the portrait she made there.  She's been experimenting with oils, and loving it.
