Second Coming

I took myself to Risley Moss this afternoon for a short walk. J is enjoying just being at home.

My mental well-being is very dependent on being able to enjoy the natural world, whatever the weather. So after two very strange days I enjoyed a short autumnal stroll.

The strangest sight today was this. The plant had flowered during the summer, the very dead seed heads attested to that. However, there was also new growth, and a second flush of flowers. It is I think Vipers Bugloss (I love these wild flower names). Strange to see it flowering in December, I very much doubt though that there are many pollinators around to enjoy its nectar.
