Ready for winter

Went on a guided tour of the Botanic Gardens in Cambridge today, it was such an interesting experience. I felt like I was seeing the gardens from a completely different angle thanks to our very knowledgeable guide. One hour was nowhere near enough so we stayed in for an extra half an hour.

Today’s blip is the winter covering for a Gunnera, a tropical waterside plant. As frost threatens the thick rough leaves are cut down and used to create a protective wigwam and held down by wooden poles. The third green blob behind the two wigwams is another gunnera awaiting its 10.5 tog duvet

Now to warm up!
