Christmas lunch

Today we had the first of Christmas lunches with old friends in the Gallery restaurant run by the catering students at Forth Valley College.

As usual the catering was superb and moreover so was the price- £19 for a three-course lunch followed by coffee and freshly made mince pies. (Yes you have to book well in advance).

Our group go back a long way to VSO days (Voluntary Service Overseas). All , apart from myself and another partner had worked overseas for this charity  in India, Africa and Pakistan.

Today I learnt of a novel trend. Some in our group, not present today, are ringing people up on their Christmas card list instead of sending cards.

With the spiralling cost of postage, and concern over the environment, versus free phone calls on the internet this is an idea that could well catch on in the future.
