Gazing Cattle

surrounding the Cullerlie Stone Circle which is near Garlogie by Echt.

Today is our final full day and as well as a drive around, we now have to start packing all of our belongings to head for home tomorrow first thing.

Most surprisingly I have bought any books this visit. Sandy and I did visit a local bookshop in Ballater which specialises in secondhand books.

Sandy managed to find four which suited his interests and I was surprised to find a copy of Stirling and the Trossachs. This is ‘An illustrated Architectural Guide’ written by my friend, the late Charles McKean.

This copy was the reprinted edition published in 1994 with an introduction written by me. I was President of the Stirling Society of Architects.

Charles McKean oversaw a series of these books covering the whole of Scotland.

In addition to these he wrote several other books covering a wide range of topics to do with Scotland.

He was very opinionated, but he is very much worth reading.
