Ice Boots

Temperatures steadily fell during the day and were just below freezing when I went out. The lake is still mostly unfrozen, but along the shore where these reeds are the ice had made a little boot around the base of each reed stem.

The image looks a bit cock-eyed because the reeds are slanted, although I'm sure I used the level when I took the shot. The reeds were blown flat by the wind and now frozen in place. Glorious sunshine made the ice sparkle.
