From between Thornthwaite Crag & Stoney Cove Pike

Looking towards Troutbeck Tongue.

We managed Gray Crag, Troutbeck Tongue, Stoney Cove Pike (Cauldale Moor) and Hartsop Dodd. Almost all in the cloud, and almost all on icy, sometimes snowy ground. As we came down off the really slippery descent from Thornthwaite Crag, and before we climbed back up the scrambly approach to Cauldale Moor, the clouds parted for no more than 5 minutes, treating us to the most incredible view of transient light down the valley.

A very technical, difficult day, but worth it all for that 5 minutes
