Floored

I came into the house from the garden, and this brightly-coloured spider dropped off my head onto the kitchen floor. We were both a little startled. I recovered first and took a few photos. The spider seemed to go into a trance for 10 minutes, then got frantically active. By then, I'd put a plastic container over it, in preparation for returning it to the garden.

I think it's a St Andrews Cross spider. It's body length is about 6-7 mm. I often see them in the garden, positioned in the centre of their distinctive cross-shaped web. This is the first time I've seen one on the kitchen floor.
