Festive Afternoon Tea

Last year Mr HB's daughter in law and the two grandchildren gave us a lovely Christmas present of Afternoon Tea at  Hawkestone Hall (valid for a year) and today we went to enjoy our lovely gift.  The Hall, an early 18th-century country mansion which once was  occupied as the pastoral centre of a religious organisation for many years and which is now a wedding and events venue with hotel bedrooms, after being converted by its new owners. It is still a very grand place and looked absolutely gorgeous with all its Christmas finery and the remains of the quite sharp frost we had last night.  Our Afternoon Tea was fabulous, some yumminess in extras* and our journey home was lit by the light of a large orange moon accompanied by a glorious sunset.

We're off out to another party shortly, fellow glider pilot friends.  Two young friends are picking us up and transporting us to the venue which I'm glad about as I think there'll be another hard frost tonight. I don't think we'll be needing much to eat either!

Heads up on the new mattress, well a 'Silent Night' it certainly wasn't.  The mattress is a little firm for my liking but I'll no doubt get used to it.
