Watendlath tarn at sunset

What a day!

With temperatures around -6 degrees at Lake level, we didn't drive too far today - parked near the Ashness landing stage. Walked up to Ashness Bridge, on to Surprise view and up to Watendlath. Then continued to Great Crag (near Dock Tarn) before crossing what is usually a bog - but today was frozen solid - to Brund Fell, where the mist suddenly rolled in and we were treated to wispy clouds and a touch of an inversion.

As we got back down to Watendlath, the sunset colours across the largely frozen tarn, and the mist rolling over Great Crag gave me a great last shot of the day. we thought we'd managed about 8 miles, but checking our equipment, it was about 11.5 miles! No wonder we felt tired.

Took just under 300 photos, so choosing was a lottery. Others can be seen on FB and Flickr
