Plunging temperatures

No more snow but certainly low overnight temperatures.  In the morning the thermometer read  -6°C.  Patches of ice outside the back door.  I started to chop the smaller sections of the branch of buddleia that broke from the weight of snow.  It was cold work despite gloves.  The wood was frozen so would either damage the saw or not be able to saw anyway until it thaws and dries out.  It's safer with no sharp sticking out bits.

Tried to take Kyro out for a walk but the pavement was very icy in parts as were any roads we needed to cross. So took him for a very brief leg stretch.  At the point when I thought we should return he refused to move and tremble, possibly from the cold or the ice.  Managed to coax him home where he swiftly settled on the sofa.   I don't think he's had to walk on icy ground before coming to us.

Temperature rose a bit today but still below zero.  Was just about to read this afternoon when a friend rang. We had a long catch up.

More of the same temperatures tomorrow I believe.  My Italian cousin says they're enjoying 20°. How annoying!

Stay warm and safe everyone.
