Beneath Biscay

Open for business

The building on the left which is a restaurant, which had been open on and off, mainly off, for years. When it was open it seemed barely so with no menu on show or anything else to make it inviting.

I believe it was a vegetarian restaurant, which would make sense, given the tomato sign hanging on the wall. Recently it has been opened by new people who seem to be making more of a go of it.

The food is reputed to be very good and the owners and staff are certainly welcoming. When I enquired about the bottle of absinthe on the shelf, never having tried the drink, I was given a glass to try.

They also sell a bottled "Asturies Pale Ale" called Caleya. It is the first Spanish beer, let alone Asturian, to reminded me somewhat of British real ale.
