In the Bleak Midwinter

The nights are progressively colder. On drawing the curtains, yes, we have curtains now, the landscape was of hard frost. We never see schoolchildren on the playing fields now.

Len left early to take the car for its MoT. On his return he walked to the. market to buy fish calling in on Colin on the way back for a coffee. Colin is not too well. His eye remains ulcerated. Mr Ryatt, the optometrist, says it needs surgery, just before Christmas too with another nurses' strike in the offing.

I finished addressing the Christmas cards and calendars (Alleluia), but Len took only the. pile I finished, neglecting yesterday's pile which was on the dining table. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.
